Default Prelude????

My mind has been torn on what I wanna do after I sell my car..

Part of me says a Del Sol bcuz I love the targa top and they have good weight numbers on their side.

Part of me says a Prelude bcuz I think it's a sexy fawkin car..

My question is.. if I got the Si model, 92-96 (4th gen?).. and dropped in an h22, would it be just drop it in and go.. or more is needed? What turbo kits are out there for that gen car with the h22.. if I got the car, I would definantly build the motor up, if not just get a block package done from importbuilders.com and then put a big fat hairy t3/60-1 turbo on it...

What kind of possibilities are there with a 4th gen sportin a h22 in it.. I know the VTEC model comes with the h22 but I'm lookin to fool the insurance company..

What if I was to pick up an 'S' model.. what VTEC parts would I need to switch over if any?

Thanks guys.

run a search bro, there's lots of threads that say what you'd need to go from si or s to vtec. http://www.hmotorsonline.com sells everything you'd need for the swap

i have a 92 s VTEC. good stuff. the motor just dropped right in. i would say go with the prelude. much better car.
the del 'slows' have a problem with chassis flex anywho. you dont want that.

You think insurance is more expensive on the S or Si model PRELUDE compared to the S or Si model DEL SOL? Say both were the 1994.

i have no clue.

why dont you call around for quotes instead of asking us? i assume that the del sol will be more. it is classified as a two seater sports car convertable. where as the prelude is just a 4 seater sports car.

why not just get a VTEC prelude and just remove the wing and badges, then put Si wheels on it? It would be easier and cheaper.

I'm looking to spend like 6k max on the car itself.. so I would need a high mileage car.. I don't wanna turbo a VTEC model that has 100k+ on it..

if youre gonna turbo a H22....just be prepared for what can possibly go wrong....in the end tho you will have spent a lot of $$$ but the gains are worth it

And what is it that could possibly go wrong if I get some JE pistons and Eagle rods, w/ some sleeves on the block? And then build up the valvetrain.. ?

h22 with some boltons will be fast. if you build that engine then it will be even faster. and a turbo will make it even more faster.

Holy hell... LOL

What could go wrong. If I could ONLY TELL YOU everything that could go wrong.

Look bro, when you first break open a motor... things are never the same. Ever. Period. End of story. Thanks for playing, go directly to jail, do not pass go.

I build every motor I get, and every time I run into SOMETHING that makes me wish I had left that thing unmolested.

lol, can i buy a vowel? but hey, pretty sure del sol insurance will be pretty high up there because they're 2 seaters, and the S model prelude would be relatively cheaper than SI or VTEC models

my advice is to buy a 5 spd s prelude.. Honestly 4ws kicks *** and you will be jealous of other luders if you dont get it, but it will be lighter and cheaper w/o it.. Insurance is chepa on them and honestly I wish I had got one and swapped in the JDM h22A not the a1... I got the jdm h22a now... But it woulda been easier on insurance and my pockets to have jst gotten an s... Be careful as the 95+ s models(maybe 94 too, dunno) dont have power locks... Other than that its my advice.. If you just wanna have funt he del sol isnt a bad car, but its not ez to make fast... I went through this dilemna and now you see me posting in the prelude forum!
