Stripping out my 87 CRX help
I just got a 87 CRX that I will be making into a race car. I have begun removing the whole interior and I'm down to the tar under the padding. Does anyone have any tips for removing the tar? Right now I'm using a heat gun and a thin piece of plastic to scrape it off but it's slow and rough on the hands.
Also, why is everything out there made for the 88 CRX and up? Is 88 when the second version of the CRX came out? Oh well, I'll be home fabricating most of the stuff for this car anyways.

i guess ur stuff is still sticky cuz my tar that i scraped off of my 90 crx just shipped away...i just use a flat head screw driver and hammer and chipted every bit off...took me 3 weekends to do it...it would probably only work if the tar was gooey ne more
When chipping it out (I did this on my CRX, took about 2 days) chip from the inside of the chunk towards the outside... it comes off in bigger chunks, and it works out cleaner that way (you won't scratch the paint as much).
Someone else suggested using hardware store glue remover, but I'd had it done by that point.

DRY ICE!
the chip it out
comes out in larger chunks and when you freeze it, it becomes brittle and breaks easier.
i think you need to heat it first though but i could be wrong [god knows i ususally am!]
