Default Swap or rebuild existing f22?

I'd like to hear your opinions and suggestions. I have a 96 Honda Accord LX Auto Coupe w/215,000 miles on her. Needless to say she is feeling sluggish. I cannot decide what would be the most cost effective way to go. Swap or rebuild? I've invested a lot of money maintaining the existing f22. I have new cv joints, alternator, radiator, battery, water pump, timing belts, hoses, tie rods, headers, intake, crank pulley, thermostat, cooling fan motor etc. I would hate to lose all of that investment going with a swap since most of the above mentioned won't transfer to a h22. Also if I did do a rebuild, It would only make since to rebuild the tranny too. If I did rebuild I'd definately upgrade the stock internals w/forged aluminum pieces to handle a good shot of nitrous. I know I still probably won't get the hp of a stock h22 out of the f22 w/upgrades. Or will I? Also, I got a quote for a swap @ a local shop for about $5K depending on the shape of the h22 he finds. Will my stock A/C transfer to a h22? Also will my car have to be converted to manual? What happens to my old engine? Are there any downsides with going to a JDM h22? Are parts available for general maintance? I'd really appreciate and suggestions. I cannot decide whats the best way to go financially. I don't have money to burn so I'm trying to make to best decision. I love my Honda and can't seem to let her go. Even though I own a 350Z I still love driving my Accord. Thanks.

if you did all the work yourself and are confortable taking out the engine...I'd say take it to an engine shop that specializes in HONDA and have it rebuilt. Then you can put it back in the car...........

If your looking at it strictly from a money/hp viewpoint, then definitely do the swap. I was in a similar situation a year ago, except that I had already added a substantial ammount of bolt-ons to my F-series so I decided to build that engine. I ended up spending more than it would have cost to do the swap. If I had to do it over again, I'd drop the H22 into the Accord, and spend any extra money I had on internals for that engine.

i'd definetly go with the swap, especially if you have that many miles on the f22. $5000 seems a little steep though, you can get a jdm h22a with tranny, shift linkage, and ecu for about $3200 with <30k mi., with shipping and install I'd say you should pay about $4500 at most. If you buy the engine yourself the cost is usually lower.

i agree. if you want more power at the same time, why not just drop in the H22? but if you want to keep the F, i understand. it's a stout little motor. take it out and rebuild that sucker: pistons, rods, top end. it's always cheaper if you do it yourself.
