Default racing rules questions about bracket racing etc.

OK >> I was down at e-town looking at all the ricers during the spring nationals.....now, while I assume it is mostly mostly bracket racing there for the import events, I still have yet to find a decent place to readup on the rules, so I turn to honda-tech. Here are my major questions basically (and if you can add more please do)

1. how does bracket racing work and what are the rules
2. don't the rules call for all motor cars? (please define all motor)
3. why do I see guys slowing down as they reach the end of the track, i thought the whole purpose to a race is to see who is fastest.
4. where do the pros fit into all this >> especially at e-town, there are always races between guys who drive mom's cherokees but then the very next race is between 2 pro teams, say meguires and castrol.....

5. please add more questions here if i missed anything

thanks

Bracket racing is designed to match two unequal cars against each other in a race for drivers skill and knowledge of his/her own car. Basically what happens is since a 10 second car and a 20 second car cannot compete heads up they stagger the start tree ten seconds so the two cars leave at different times but should finish at the same time. SO the driver has to knowhis/her car VERY well in order to guess what time it will run. That is whythey have their time written on their window. It is called a dial in. You "DIAL IN" the time you thinkyou are going to run and so does your opponent, the closest person tohis dial in without going faster is the winner. If you go too fast you will lose the race, that si why you see people stepping on the brakesat the end of the track, they might be going too fast and need to slow a little to prevent going too fast which is called a "Break Out". There is a lot of contreversy about bracket racing that its only for slow cars but it is untrue bull. THere are very fast bracket cars and very slow ones. It takes just as much skill to bracket race successfully as it does to race a heads up class. But the good part is you dont have to have a million dollar sponsorship package to bracket race. That is why yousee people racing their moms minivan or some rusted bucket of ****.

Heads up means both lanes start at the exact same time. Whoever gets to the finish line first wins... no handicap.
