The days of my EG6 ar numbered!! 1 week
Well after talking to a few registered importers in the so cal area. They either just want to ignore me or they only do euro cars. They usally try to scare me off by saying there opinion "it isint worth it" or try scaring me off by telling me it will cost &10,000. I wasted one week of my time negociateing with American Auto Dream and then I just told them "lets stop talking and start to get this thing going". THEN thay say that then only work one benz's.
Makes me want to smash some F_<K!N@ face in. They act like im asking them to do a favor or something. Business must be pretty good for them to just turn down a customer with 10k to spend.
The worst part about it is that ive seen a street legal eg6 with my own 2 eyes.
I should have just bought a GTR so it will have just been cut and dry. Give it to motorex and call it a day.
Now what do I do I have a car that I dont want to sell and probably couldint in one week and get half of my money out of it. I dont have the time to completely part it out.
What to doo??? Cut the thing in half, ship it home and start over? Im considering it.
I really dont know what to do and its depressing that the only thing that is stopping me is red tape. Its not like im trying to smuggle a pound of weed home in it or something. LOL
AHHH Sorry for all of the blabber. If anyone could help me or knows someone who could I would be very greatful.
For the skeptics and those who had the patientce to read this. Thankyou and here are some shots that I took this morning.
I kept it clean and mean.

If you get it into the US, you probably wont be able to register it so you are in a lose lose situation.
If you love the car that much.....cut it in half......ship it over here....buy another hatch....and swap the firewalls. I THINK that would work but its gonna cost a lot of $$$$$ and IMO.....NOT WORTH IT
My .02 cents......now im broke

dope EG btw</TD></TR></TABLE>Yah why wouldn't you be able to register the vehicle? Just because the VIN is from japan doesn't mean you couldn't register the vehicle in the U.S. You think people who buy gtr v-spec's from motorex buy them and don't drive them? I mean come on, you saw 2f2f, right? lol. It's hard to say what to do man. Looks like you invested a pretty penny into it already, but im sure not near as much as if you would have those parts here. I would just say to be persistent. There are RHD's that come to this country still, I'm a little unfamiliar with the law about bringing them over but i thought it was just classics, such as older skylines and lancers. Money does a lot in this world and for 10k, i'll swim your damn car over. Good luck man.

Sorry for the excess in blab here are some cliffs:
I own it. Daily drive it. And want to keep it.
I would really like to bring it back and make it street legal. Ive even saved the money to get it done.
But if I cant make it street legal. I would like to bring it back so I could transfer the parts to another car. And probably sell the rest that I dont want or need.
Doing a rhd "conversion" is wack in my opinion especially when I have the real thing.
I need a Registered Importer in so cal that will do the work. Or someone that can get my car back to the states so I can part it out. The military will not ship the car unless I have a contract with a R.I. and they wont ship a parts car. Ive heard that they are even putting restrictions on people packouts that have car parts in them. GULP
Chopping the car sounds like fun but it will be heard breaking at the same time.
Hope this cleared things up a little.

If you are in the military TMO should take care of it. You are allowed one vehicle and something thousand pounds of household goods if you are married.
I dunno what the codes are in the u.s. or canada. This is my first honda.
The exterior color is NH-50JP Is just black with a light gold flake. Hardly noticeable unless your really close to the car.
The interior code is TYPE F GRAY.

i've always wondered if this would work: buy a wrecked EH as a salvage title, then just use that car's registration as the EGs and say it was restored and converted to LHD. other than the firewall serial #, is there any reason it wouldn't work?

Yeah Ive heard of that but how do I get the car back in one piece is the question. And thats some shady ****. Thats probably why most rhd owners are tight lipped.

I've been told that you need to pull the engine out and ship the two pieces separately into the country. The guy who told me this is away at a CRX meet this weekend. He has a Japanese wife and goes over to Japan once a year, her to visit family and him to buy parts.

I think this is just a tactic to get around the cost of importing a whole car. By taking it apart he can say it is just parts.
What state do you want to register the car in?

if you are at the end of your rope, then go the SHADY WAY...
buy a crap EG stateside, swap the VIN tags and swap the firewall section where the VIN is stamped.
register your JDM car as the US car...
scrap your US car that you snaked the VIN tags and firewall from.
sorry to even suggest this...but, man, your car is very nice and I like the way you have it setup.

You need to figure something out. That thing would be a nice addition to the states.
Ship it to me piece by piece. I'll put it together for you for a small fee and ship it to you once you are in the states.Hehe.

I'll try it again. Here you go.

When I was in Europe I guy I knew shipped over a rhd Trueno over and he's bringin it to the states.....He was saying he had to get some sort of license saying that it was to be a track only car or some **** so that way he would'nt have to pay fees for the conversion then just transfer the parts to a usdm corolla....
or you could part the whole car and ship it with your household goods....When I left Germany and came to Maryland I shipped over an LS motor w/tranny on a crate, EX dash, doors, seats, basically the a whole EX interior and a whole bunch of other car parts with my household goods and they didn't give me any ****...

Where are you stationed in Japan? And for which branch of the service? I'm leaving soon and was wondering which base to look forward to, and what not to...
Good luck with your car! I was looking into bringing something back as well, but it looks hard.
