Best Tricks For Sliding the Timing Belt on?
loosen tensioner, put the belt on the ex cam first, the slip on the intake side. turn so 3 teeth pass eachother, tighten tensioner. spin crank over few times to get the tension right while making sure it still lines up at tdc

Let me ask you guys this, when your setting the cams to TDC do the cams ever have problems staying at TDC?When i did this to my friends ZC his cams move back like when your cranking the motor and it builds compression.I couldnt get both cams to stay at TDC and now the timing is all messed up.

If needs be you just reset the cam, try it over and over till you get it to the point of defeat. I did it multiple times before I had it righ on...

SO your saying to just keep spinning it till it stays put?I just spun it around a couple of times and nothing happened.

What I did was actually took the cam caps off, tok out the cam, rotated the motor by the crank, and set the cam back again. Soemtimes T-belts are a real bitch. You have to just work them. Start over, from the bottom up, it can take some time if you`re not familiar with it.
Damn thats alot of work.I have done belts before but the cams always stayed at TDC and never moved like his motor. What we ended up doing was hold each cam with wreches and then put the belt on but i know its supposed to be easier than that.
at first mine were turning (the ex side) and then i just kina messed with it so as it turned with putting on the belt it fell in perfectly

Im trying to tighten up my new tbelt. Installed belt. Tighten tensioner, crank it over and it does tighten but not very tight. I can still feel slack in the belt. WTF? Ive done the process according to the helms probably 5 times, it doesnt tighten all the way. Can someone give me some help??

hmm, are you getting a good purchase on the tensioner, cause i had to go back and really tighten mine up to get the last of the slack out....
I wouldnt ever touch the belt with oil ...Its not reccomend to ever get oil on yoru belt . I just did my timing belt yesterday and all I can say was i put on some hevy duty gloves because that ****** belt ripps in my fingers. I put i on the exhaus cam first then slide decently easy over the intake gear. Good luck

I don't think that would be a very good idea, any belt that has been in oil should be replaced, your valves will thank you.

the only non-petrolium based lube I can think of is KY jelly, which I am definately not putting on my motor.
so what did the tech use?

Ah must loosen tensioner first
I wasnt doing that heh
I dont think my new tensioner is good. I follow the helms instructions on tbelt tension adjustment and it doesnt tighten up very much. It takes some of the slack out of the tbelt but not enough to make it tight. What does that sound like? spring?
