any itrs running "stongard"?
looks like an interesting product. i saw a similar product up close at an evo 8 meet a few weeks back. one of the showcased cars had a laminated covering on the entire front fascia. i'm not certain if it was the "stongard" stuff but probably similar.
any itrs here that use this?

i considered something like that when first purchased the car, instead, decided to repaint the front bumper 2 years down the line.. well its been 2 years.. maybe another 2 and i'll repaint.. - looking at the price of the kit, even if its the same price as re-painting, i'd rather go for fresh paint.

ask any reputable body shop and they will tell you stoneguard is a waste of time. over time, rocks hit the stoneguard (duh) and it tears up the stoneguard. in my mind it looks worse than a rock chip (ive seen it) and they need to redo the stoneguard, costing as much as the repaint, and there is nothing like fresh paint
stone guard = cost more in the long run.

Yep. I've had mine on since early 2000. Works great. Looks great. Saved my **** on one occasion when something fell off of a truck and hit the nose of the car. There's a small dent and a mark on the Stongard, but it did not tear thru. It doesn't last forever; maybe 5 years, but I can certainly go longer without washing bugs off of the nose of the car. And I've seen cars that look like someone took a sandblaster to it and I don't like the idea of that. A topnotched paint job costs topnotched $$
I guess my experience has been different than most:
I had the oem bra on my '00 itr for about 2.5 years. I was careful to keep the car waxed underneath the bra, and to not drive in the rain/ wet with the bra on. After over 2 years, my front end looked showroom new!
I remember running without the bra for about 2 weeks after I was too lazy to put it on one time... I got more damage to my front end in those two weeks than in 6 months with the bra on!
My '01 itr has approximately 45k miles on it. It has the stonguard clear bra on it - the previous owner had it put on when the car was fresh off the lot. I'd have to say that the stonguard gets
Not only does it protect the front end from uv damage and rocks, but it isn't as "unsightly" as some feel the oem bra is..... It also makes cleanup/ washing/ waxing of the car a snap - basically cutting the time in half - since you simply spray the front end with water and that's it. The rest of the car, I wash and wax as normal. The stonguard also covers the headlights and mirrors - preventing any rock damage to them.
I actually have no fear of rocks or other debris from trucks on the highway anymore.
If I ever get the coveted jdm front end - the stonguard will go on it immediately after it is painted. I like it that much. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to keep their front end new. It actually pays for itself (imho) in the amount of cleanup time saved from wiping bug guts off the front end and mirrors. Simply spray with water and drive off!

just bout sumz up how mine looks. a few track events put more chit on the front end then about a year of highway driving, thus the reason i sold my bra last week. i'm too lazy to take that chit on and off.

I have it, but I merely have a GS-R. My front end has no chips and neither does the stonguard. It's pretty popular around here... my brother has it on his 996tt...
