Default WHEEL BEARINGS...OR SOMETHING...

I have a question...When I corner excessively, there is some sort of grinding-like sound from the rear right corner of the car. Now, someone told me that it might be wheel bearings wearing out. Is this possibly the case??? If so, I'd like to fix it, so is it something i can do or not?? Thanks.

All right, thanks for the quick reply, but...

what exactly am i doing when i do this? am i then supposed to replace the bearing? I had heard that they might just need to be repacked. I guess my most important question is if this is really the problem though. Is this grinding sound something you've come across? Anyways, thanks for any help you can give me.

You know, now that you mention it, I haven't checked to see if the sound is still there after I replaced my pads the other night. I'm gonna have to go do some driving... I hope maybe I fixed it when i put everything back together...

Another way to figure out if it is the bearing, take a semi-hard turn to the side you think it is. example, my left rear bearing was bad and every time I took a fast or hard letft turn, it was quiet through the turn. Good luck

Doesn't the rear have it's entire assembly replaced... the hub and bearing? I looked in the service manual and there's no instructions on how to replace a rear wheel bearing, only the front.

So the hub can be removed from the hub unit bearing? Cause it sounds like it would be pretty damn expensive to replace both the hub unit bearing and hub unit!

well, I went and drove a little bit, and i didn't hear anything, so i'm thinking it might have just been a loose sheild or something. I'm hoping that is what it was, because it doesn't sound fun to mess with the bearings and such. Thanks for your help.
