Default 92 Auto Accord - Light Around "D4" Was Flashing, Felt Like Tranny Was Slipping??

This was a weird one...

Came out from Home Depot and the car cranked for about 5 seconds...hmmm...let off, tried again and it started right up. Then as I'm pulling out of the parking spot, it feels like I'm giving it more than enough gas but it's barely moving...almost like the tranny is slipping The light around the "D4" on the gauge cluster is flashing for some reason...regardless of what gear I'm in. Still feels like the tranny is slipping. Make another stop. Get back in the car, starts up fine, no flashing D4, and accelerates like normal...

So, WTF happened? I think the flashing D4 light is the key...what was it telling me???

102k miles, tranny fluid probably needs to be changed (not sure about previous owner changing it)...FYI

Thanks in advance...

I would first check your tranny fluid and see if it needs changing and then change it even if it does not need it cause it never hurts to have fresh fluid.

states in the owners manual, a blinking D4 light means transmission problem... check it out.

Always check tranny fluid first. It can set off the D4 light own it's own. Have it flushed and refilled.

If it still does it afterwards, its more than likely your torque converter. Since it's doing it in all gears. Does it act awkward in Park and Neutral too?

The fluid level was fine (checked that right after it happened) but it probably does need to be changed.

It didn't do it long enough for me to get a good feel for when it was doing what exactly. It seemed to idle fine in park though and it didn't matter if I was in 1 or D4, it still felt like it was slipping...

Thanks,
Hank

When you get a chance go give it a test drive in each gear position and post back up with exactly the gear/gears it's doing it in.

Well, that's the problem. It only did it from one parking lot to the next. It ran and shifted fine all the way home after that in all gears. I even jumped on it a bit and it accelerated normally

Clean the connectors on the shift solenoids. It sounds like they may have corrosion or dirt in them.
