I was just wondering if this is common to all civics or just an occurance with this one. I can't lock the drivers side door with the door open. The button just won't move. I have to shut the door and lock it with the key. This means that i'll never lock my keys in my car, but i was just wondering if anyone else has this happen.

 

Thats done on all Hondas, even my 88 CRX. Its just Honda Foolproof way to make sure you don't lock your keys in your car.

I still managed to lock them in once though

 

or you can pull your handle on the outside and push your lock button and it will lock all the doors (atleast on a power lock cars) that what i used before i got my alarm, i think it is easier than using my key

 

Yup, on non powered doors, what I do on mine is just open the door, pull out the handle, and push in the lock. They do it on most hondas I think. I thought it was broke at first, but then a honda technician told me it was normal.
