Default what should my compression levels be? and what is egr?

i got a compression test done on my 92 lude h23 engine... what should be the levels of compreesion? mine are 160 psi + or - 20 %... also does anyone know what a code 12 is on a diagnostics scan? what is egr? please help

the code 12 you are getting is more than likely the EGR valve which is located (looking from the front of the car into the engine bay) to the left of the intake manifold near the intake tube.

As for your compressions.....i have heard that normal is about 180 psi no more difference than 25 psi/cylinder. Mine however, would give me readings of about 210 psi with one cylinder off my 35 psi. I just did a rebuild to fix the problem but have yet to perform another compression test.

EGR = exhaust gas recirculator.... or something to that effect.
