Default wheel bearings?

I don't know if this is the wheel bearings or not. What is happening is I get a squeaking coming from the front drivers side wheel. It is constant and squeaks faster the faster I go. But the second I touch the brakes the squeak stops and will not start up again until I let off the brakes. I have taken the brakes off and checked everything that I could see that could be causing this noise. I am about 90% positive that the bearings where replaced about 60k miles ago. I have heard of some idiots that when they put the new bearings in don't grease them. I guess some people think that the Vaseline like stuff, that is on them to keep from rusting while shipping, is grease. Like they think they come pre-packed. Thus killing the bearings fairly soon after replacing them. Does this noise sound like a bearing problem? Anyone know? Thanks!

When my wheel bearings went on my VW, I heard a grinding sound only when I turned in one direction. As I sped up, the sound definitely became louder and when braking went away. VW Stealership charged me almost $400 (Can) to repair it.

i had a similar problem / sound and everyone told me it was the wheel bearing. Once i got it to the shop though, they replace the CV joint and i was good to go. I have not had any other problems since.

I know it isn't the CV because I just replaced that about 10k miles ago.
Anyone else know if this is the bearing?

try checking how much brake pad you have left. My car did the same thing, and i spent the $$$ replacing the bearing when it was still good and it ended up being the pad. I wish somebody would've saved me the 70 bucks for pads...

I did check the pads. They are still more than 1/2
