Default Backfire and Idle Problems, Need Your Help

I have a Built GSR Engine thats Turbocharged. Lately my car has been backfiring alot. When I am crusing down the freeway ( just lightly on the gas or when I take my foot off the gas and then put my foot lightly on the gas again ) my car backfires really bad. My Speedpro Engine Mgmt. looks like its been set to run a 12.7 A/F ( at this particular part of the A/F Map ) but my Greddy A/F meter says 15.8 A/F. Also, my Greddy Oil Pressure Guage seems a lot lower than usual. The Oil Pressure Guage Reads a mark of 2, when before it would read at a mark of 4 on the guage face. When the engine is warmed up and I'm idling at a stop light, the Oil Pressure Guage shows a red light ( way below where its suppose to be ). Also, when my car is idling ( whether the engine is cold or warm ) the idling is very rough. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks for any help.

Do you have an aftermarket ignition system?

I don't know how much I would trust the Greedy A/F meter... You're not running a wideband on your FAST setup?? Also what is your car idling at?? Check for oil leaks etc., I would also test your oil pressure... I would think that since your motor was built that you atleast got a new oil pump right... How does your power feel?? Even though I don't trust your A/F meter ~13.5:1+ (A/F) starts to feel like **** with a turbo motor... Good Luck and let us know if anything changes... Peace

I have an MSD 7AL2 Ignition Amplifer with recommended Coil. I am running a FAST wideband. Is it true that if you use 117 octaine, off and on, your wideband goes to crap and needs to be replaced? I have no oil leaks. Car idles at 1100. The power feels shaky as I excelerate, like the fuel is being hindered somewhere in the fuel delivery system. Would you suggest richening up at bit on the A/F map? Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm beginning to think the problem is in the O2 Sensor. I have been using Leaded Race fuel at the track on 2 recent occasions. The problem got worse after using the Race Fuel and I haven't replaced my O2 in over a year.

Hey Richard, I didn't even realized that was you till just now... hehe You know we run 120 on the dyno and on the steet for the boosted and high compression NA cars on the street... Though it is leaded we haven't had any problems yet... On your Speed Pro what is your correction set at? You could also try dropping your target A/F to see if it makes it any better... Does you car seem at all rich right now... When you get on it does it puff a little black smoke... If not then you probably just need more gas... Let us know if anything changes... Peace
