Default Can a non-MP3 deck work with an MP3 cd changer?

I'm thinking about purchasing a Sony deck w/ changer controls, but isn't an MP3 player. If I get Sony's 10-disc MP3 changer, can the deck still navigate through the folders of MP3's in the changer?

It will befine as long as that model of changer is compatible with that Headunit. Which models are they?

It would be the Sony CDX-C7850 deck, and the CDX-757MX changer.

Have you tried calling Sony customer service and asking them? Just an option, I really have no idea.

I'm going say most likely not. Reason being that the head unit is the brain that sorts through the information and converts the dimples on a disk into usable electrical signals to send to the speakers to make recognizable sound. The cd changer is like an eye that scans the disk. The changer, or wherever the laser is, does the seeing, but has no idea what it is looking at until the head unit interprets the data. The cd changer laser could scan all day and the head unit would not understand the mp3 format if it is not programmed to decode that format. Invest in a slightly more expensive head unit, you'll be happier six months from now. I don't know about Sony, but every Pioneer head I've seen over $150 plays mp3s now. $.02

nope, it will work.

The MP3 decoders are built into the changers, not the deck. Works with alpines, sony's, etc. Take a look at how the sony changers work, the Audio is carried from the changer to the deck via RCA's, the changer cable *only* carries the command signals, which would be the same for a regular CD or MP3 cd.

That's what I thought. My only question now would be...how will the the non-MP3 deck know how to navigate through folders of MP3's on a disc? Will it just know what to display?
