Default Any of you guys run a 1 Layer headgasket?

I'm about to head up to a friends house tomorrow night to remove the balance shaft belt and do a 1 layer headgasket.

I've had experience with putting 1 layer headgaskets on B series and such to raise compression a little bit, but have not done so on my beloved H series.

I was just wondering if any of you guys are running or have ran a 1 layer headgasket.

TIA.

Wow, no responses huh?

I guess I'll have to do a detailed write up if no one else has done it.

She should hold

Many of the B series my friends have ran off of bump the compresion about .5 and held just like stock.

We will hope this is the same and I'll do a write up on this once I do this.

11.1:1 CR sounds nice if it'll hold up heh.

On multi-layer gaskets you can remove some (1) of the inner layers. The ony way you could get the head to seal would be to use a single shim @ .010 that has sealing compound on both sides. The stock H22 head gasket has three layers, only one can be taken out to raise compression because the other two have seal compound on one side.

I have a Spoon Sports single layer head gasket sitting here, waiting for the rest of my parts to come in before I assemble the block.

I'm gonna head up there right after work, and probably won't come back till Friday during the day.

We may just remove the balance shaft belt for now, because I'll be racing Friday night hopefully and don't want to run into any issues at all to jeopardize the motor for now. I'll just have to do it a little later.

Thanks guys for the input guys.

Do you know your compression ratio by chance?
