Default do you leave your bike in the sun??

Do you guys leave your bikes in direct sunlight for extended periods of time??

When i decide to ride my bike to work, its 8 hrs of direct sunlight, with no shade available....just wondering what you guys thought about that? Do you think it has the same affects as it does on cars, with fading and stuff?

When I left my bike out in the sun, the throttle grip started to slip whenever I tried to open the throttle. So I had to open it practically to the stop in order to just barely get going. I think it would be better for you to invest in a bike cover. They're generally pretty portable, especially if you carry a backpack or have some type of luggage on the bike.

i noticed my front brake lever is hard to pull - i think the sun is heating up the fluid in the resivoir on the handlebars or something. once i pull it once, its fine.

Just use the cover when it's going to be left for long periods (as you've stated). Quick trips to the store? Just leave the cover behind.

Hey, I wouldn't consider you a fruit for wanting to take care of your baby. If I had to leave my bike in the sun, I'd definitely cover it all the time. I consider it an extra theft-deterrent (especially with a locking cover).

You could make a commercial, like that dude in the Civic commercial, who pulls up to a girl's house and covers his car, and then uncovers it when they walk up to the car. =D
