Q: The way you like to have your runs done at Auto-Xs??
When Auto-Xing do you like to have the day set up where your in a heat group and all your runs (3-5) are done in that same heat group???
OR
Would like like to make one run per heat group of worker changes, where as one run is made while your working the course and all other runs are done when they switch out workers???
I can see that advantages of doing all your runs nearly back-to-back in the same heat cause of conditions that might change or your get into a rythum from the course being fresh in your mind or you just want to keep the heat in your tires. On days with a low turn out you could at points be jumping right back into your car within 5-10 mins of just finishing one run to start the next.
However I do like being able to sit down and really have some time to think of what I may done wrong on the first run(s), watch others go thru areas I had trouble in or just calm down to rebalance myself.
I've done it both ways so I guess it just depends on how good or bad my first run went. So what do you prefer??

All the runs at once, with cars of the same class. It's the only way to go for big events with good competition (added benefit of half day commitment instead of fuill day).
For local events and test/tunes, it doesn't matter so much.

Around here we will see both ways. With one of the nearby VA clubs, they have assigned numbers, and you run all your runs in one rungroup, then worka different run group. The advantage is that you know when you will run, and it seems like it would be more orgainized.
The problem is that you often don't run with your class and sometimes don't ever seem them run.
Our club splits the day into morning and afternoon runs. You do a few in the AM, thena few more in the PM. You run with your class, and get to see results inbetween run groups. We have enough workers so you only need to work for one group. We also seem to run as many or more runs than the VA club that does it all at once (we have the luxury of timing 2 runs then deciding if we want to run 2 or 3 more).
I also like the split format because it makes the event more of a "family" affair. There is more time to talk to friends and competitors. You also have the luxury of watching others run (first run group of the all at once doens't have that luxury). Weather might be a factor, but it is likely to effect everyone equally rather than just certain heats. It's possible to run in the dry with VMSC in teh first heat, while your competition runs in the wet in the 4th heat. Hardly fair.

I agree 100%!

This is the only reason I can attend some events (like DC) that are farther away. It also helps with weekends that have events on saturday and sunday.

4 runs in the morning, 4 runs in the afternoon. But otherwise, all at once. Definitely.
You just get more runs in with less worker changeover.

Ha ha, my group actually lets you take your runs one after another, with only a car or two between you and your next run. Get there, work, run and go home! We are starting to get to the attendance numbers where heats would help, but at this point, I would just find it more frustrating.
