Default Anyone using a gutted stock cat converter?

Will a gutted stock cat converter make a relativey quiet car really loud? Of course the engine will breath easier, but is the power increase noticeable? I was considering running a stock accord gutted cat converter on my H22 powered accord hybrid. Is anyone running their stock gutted cat? How much better does the engine run and how much louder did it make the car?

I realize that the best way to find out is to do it, but any feedback will be
appreciated.

By the way, i am using a DC Sports header/exhaust and cold air intake.

Thanks,
Mark

I am running a test pipe. Doesn't affect the cars sound that I can tell.

On an NA car you won't notice any gains. FI is a different story.

You will be able to feel/hear the performance. You won't be able to pass emissions. It is illegal, but hard for cops to tell. I would recommend a performance cat since gutting can cause backfiring - we all know how serious backfiring can be to an engine. But, technicaly if you have enough flow, then backfiring shouldn't occur, so you might want to upgrade cat-back exhaust. Hope this helps.

Ultra high flow exhaust systems(gutted out cat, big piping or even open exhaust) on NA applications will only gain on top end. Back pressure is on needed for low end performance.

I gutted my cat and notice a nice gain, I can tell it improve the sound, power and torque. If back pressure was a big issue why get an exhaust....

And trust me you'll definetly noitce VTEC kicking GOOD LUCK

What exactly is a "test pipe"? What advantages are there in using a test pipe instead of a gutted factory cat converter?
