Do you like one day or two day DE events? Trying to plan more DEs
I wanted to post on a few forums and see what comments I get on this topic (hopefully). I have run in a bunch of DEs, help put them on, and been the event chair. I am looking at putting on more DE events with one hopefully being the new Barber Track in Birmingham, Alabama as well as scheduling more at the TGPR track outside of Birmingham. My question is this. Do you really prefer for a DE event to run for one day or two? Do you eat up enough rubber, brake pads, and stress your equipment enough on a one day that it would be usually preferable to run one day? What I have observed at many DE event is that everyone is hell bent for leather on day one and by day two many people start backing off or going home early due to car issues or they have just had their fill of fun by lunch time. Of course for the diehards that means more lapping sessions after lunch on day two. If most want to run a one day event and go home then I would be inclined to do hold a one day event and the rate would be less expensive too. Comments would be appreciated. TIA.

I would imagine that most everyone is going to say they prefer a two day event. If you're going to haul all your crap to the track, you might as well get as much track time as you can while you're there.

Two day. As noted, once I'm all packed up and rolling down the interstate, I may as well make a weekend of it.
Three days are cool if they are on long weekends. But I don't run many of them because I like to use my vacation for actual vacation sometimes.

2 day if its a weekend.
An occasional 1-day during the week is really nice though. Like "Friday at the Track" here at Summit Point. The track is close, so I just take a day off work and drive out for a day. It doesnt monopolize the weekend (makes the girlfriend happy) is cheap, and still gets you some track time.

Since I am new to most tracks, I'd rather do multiple 1 day events, rather than a few less 2 day events. That way I can experience more tracks, find what I like etc.
That being said, if NASA only went to Mid-Ohio for the rest of the 2003 HPDE season, I'd be the happiest little bitch you've ever seen.

The cost per day will be significantly lower for 2-day events. $300 for a weekend vs. $175 per day, also factor travel and gas and hotel.... while you spend more i think you get more for your money with a full weekend.

Yep. 2 day events. Of course, if you're lucky to live near a track and can get in those "Friday" open lapping day deals, that maybe tempting too.
Two-days, at the end of the first day or a one-day I'm just getting warmed up usually, that second day is really my best day for driving it seems.
Thanks for the reply guys. I hope more possibly chime in because I want to set up what the majority of drivers want to do to make the event a success. Two day is looking like a winner.
