A/C Problem...Need Help
I posted this in Superhonda as well, but I thought I would try posting here also because I haven't gotten much help there.
My air conditioning stopped working about a 2 months ago, and I can't figure out why. I checked all fuses, and everything seems to be okay. I also used a circuit tester to test the wires leading to the compressor. When I tested the red wire with a blue stripe, the compressor came on, but the fan did not. When I tested another wire, the fan turned on, but not the compressor.
I tried putting a guage to the low pressure side of the a/c, and it was in the red portion stating overcharged, but that seems unlikely because the car it is a 94 and has never been recharged.
Lastly, when I put the tester on the red and blue wire and the compressor turns on, the watchglass in the high pressure side has a lot of bubbles or foam in it.
Sorry this is so long, but I do not know what to do, and I am too cheap to pay a dealer who knows how much money to take a look at it. Can anyone help?

If your system is out of R12 or R134a, the clutch to the compressor will NOT come on so that is doesn't burn out the compressor. My guess is that you will need to have the green dye injected into your A/C system to find out where the leak is coming from.
Just my guess for now.
Oh, Welcome to H-T!

hihih, i work for honda
since your car is 94 is probably low charge, so u should go to a place where specialize in a/c recover and recharge...... i know for a fact dat ur a/c system is r134a is much cheaper to recharge than r12............

Have you checked the a/c presure switch and a/c thermostat? Either one can cause both the fans and compressor not to run with a properly charged system.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'll take it to a shop to have it checked out.
Where do I find the a/c pressure switch and the a/c thermostat to check those on my own?

The presure switch is under the battery and the t-stat is on the evaporator housing. You can jump the connectors with a paper clip to see if the compressor and fans kick on.

Okay, I hate to sound stupid and keep asking questions, but when it comes to the a/c system, and electrical items, I'm at a loss for knowledge. What connectors would I bridge with a paper clip to see if they work, and if that does work, what would it mean? Sorry to keep asking questions, but I like to learn how to work on this stuff, and this board is about the only place that I know can help me.

If you jump the presure switch connector and it comes on, (and you know the system is properly charged) the switch is bad. Same thing with the t-stat connector. You just want to bypass different components to narrow down your problem.

well i had my expansion valve and reciever dryer replaced because my a/c wasn't working right. its was $310 total after taxes.

I had the system checked, and the freon levels are full. There are no leaks in the system, and all switches and relays were found to be good. The shop said that the problem lies within a ground wire somewhere in the system, and since it is not grounded, it will not work. They do not work with electrical wiring, so I still have no a/c. I'm going to work on it in the next couple of days, does anyone have any suggestions where I should look for the ground wires? Just thought I would ask.
