Default What is resleeving?

What does it mean by resleeving and how does it improve the perfomance of the engine?

resleeving.. basicly your just putting in new cylender walls, and they are stronger than stock. most people do this if they are building their engines to handle more boost. the new sleeves are stronger so more of a BANG can go on inside.

and why don't people take the time to answer simple things like this instead of harking on SEARCH its simple enough to answer fast.. lazy people i swear

In regards to the question about it helping horsepower; re-sleeving doesn't increase horsepower in it's self. This is with the assumption that you go with the same bore.

However, if you are having the work done (to all four cylinders), then it opens up the possibility to go to a bigger bore and that would make a difference.

so basically if you are going to increase bore size you'd want to resleeve the engine......

The amount that you can bore an engine varies from engine type to engine type. If you were doing a major bore, then you would most likely have to sleeve it.

On a real motor (not a honda motor) you would not want to sleeve youre whole block. A sleeve leaves no deck support. The cylinder walls are what support youre deck and if you sleave a block you turn those cast walls into press fit walls, which if you are really making lots of power is very bad. but i guess honda guys dont have to worry about problems like making a lot of power.
