what should i do with my car?? (broken)
ok so my car started to make this clunking noise and i thought it was the cv joints or the wheel bearing or a bunk tire(just got new ones) but i took it to a shop today and the guy said he was pretty sure it was a chipped or other wise fucked up tooth on my ring gear (he drove it and then put it up on a lift and listened with a stethoscope). so he tells me that with good luck nothing else is fucked up and he just replaces the ring gear and the gear that it touches (actually a shaft full of **** but it's one piece) it will cost me like 1500 or so but if it shreaded metal all over it will need to be completely replaced.
so what should i do cuz i can't afford to fix it and i can't be with out a car, i was thinking just replacing the entire tranny with a used one and have the shop put it in, or trying to sell it to some one that wants to do a manual swap or something
but any other input would be helpful -- thanks

yeah i hear that but after everything is said and done will the cost of the itr tranny be comparable to just fixin what's broke? (say replacing the tranny cuz i havn't seen how bad it is)
if a manual swap can be had for the same price count me in!
(oh yeah and a shop would be doing the install cuz i don't want to)
