How hard do you drive your car?
Just curious...
I rarely take mine to 8000rpm, although it does see 7000rpm quite a bit (only for a gear or two though). How often do you guys hit redline?
I try to control the urge since I would prefer to baby my car all the time, but it's really hard not to hear VTEC at least once in a drive
Overall I think it depends where I'm going; for instance, if I'm just running down to the market or something I will not exceed 3500rpm.

for me it depends on the weather and driving conditions. if it's a sunny day my car will see redline atleast 2 - 3 times a day. if it's rainy then i try to stay away from 5k rpm or more. although it does feel kool to be able to light up your tires just by floorin it in 1st gear in the rain.

I don't hit vtec unless I'm tryingto move really fast (exit coming up and I'm on the other side of the freeway, some kid in a civic SI pestering and I feel like smacking him (or insert any make and model that thinks its "just a hatchback").
I have gone a whole week without hiting vtec. Honestly my exhaust keeps me in check....I'm sure a cop will here me coming and give me a ticket, so that alone makes me drive more normal then half of the ATL population

Sunny day, where I live you can't help but autocross it. I live way out in the boonies, nothing but open country roads and green fields, almost like a car commercial. I tear that up on a sunny day. But when im just going somewhere I usually shift 3.5 or less.

What about deer? That is what keeps me from ripping up the country roads.

After putting the turbo on....I have a hard time not keep my foot planted on the floor....although, my second gear synchro is going, go shifting outta first can grind now and then. That keeps me from hard launching it much lately.

I hate it when that happens.
Fortunately after it happens I'm able to somehow resume driving it hard, drifting through the streets.

during normal driving i shift around 4500 ( b16a is has no tourqe)
theres times my car wont see vtec for a week
then theres times where i take my car out just to open her up
shifting just before redline
i blew up my d16z6 last year so i really dont abuse my b series
gotta keep her healthy cause boost is coming soon

I sort of feel that way too.
If I can get a good on-ramp, charge through a few gears, then I'm set for the day.
