my friend has a 92 lude. heres the problem:

when he starts the car in the morning, it starts, but sometimes rpm drop so low that car shuts off.

but, SOMETIMES, after shutting down the car from the drive, and then trying to start it back up like 10 mins later(after we get out of the bank) it wont start and the check engine light will light up.

then, if he lets it sit for a while (anywhere from 5 mins-3hrs he said), the car will start back up.

does anyone know what might be wrong??

mine did that a while back and then one time i just wouldnt start again. Had it towed to the Dealership where they said it was the fuel pump. I havent had any problems since it was replaced....

 

i had a simliar problem, fuel pump rely, when he has trouble starting, roll the key yo the run position, you should here the fuel pump run for about 5 secs

 

sounds like fuel pump
