Hello everyone!
I was planning to do some interior work on my 95 honda civic coupe. I plan to spray paint the interior myself. What kind of spray paint should I use and how much should I expect to pay????

 

They make dyes in spray cans and should cost about $5 a can. Just check out your local auto parts store.

 

will spray dye scratch after awhile?? Because I've been using 2 coats of primer and then engine spray paint because of it's heat resistance. it's not working well, I'll try the spray dye but I want to know if it'll scratch and come off.

 

well if a guy was smart, her would but the peices that he wanted in th colro he wanted, unles you are doign somethign really gay like painting your dashboard red or something.

 

This belongs in the Appearance/Cosmetic section, but since you cannot post there yet (trial user) I'll be nice and let it slide unles it gets out of hand.

If I were you i would not even consider spray-painting anything interior-wise on your car. You will regret it later, even if you use "high quality spray dye" or whatever it will still not look O.E.

 

well, I'm not painting my dash because I have a white vinyl dash cover but I'm talkin about the rest. Anyone with any useful information?? Oh proofread urself before u post it because I didn't the understand the last guy.

 

well, how else should i do my interior? with complete vinyl??
It sounds nice but isn't it a little too pricy?

 

vinyl per yard around here is $6.. that is not pricey.. and that is in canadian.

You might be in the wrong forum altogether.

Honda-Tech is for PERFORMANCE modifications first, and "tasteful" appearance mods second.

I'd think that 99% of this MB would not want to help someone ruin their interior by spraypainting it multi colors.

I don't see this topic lasting much longer...

 

The Best Stuff I have used is stuff called Molecubond http://www.bryndana.com The Dyes are best used on Soft Vinyl Like Seats, Dash Boards etc etc. Enamel and Laquers are Best for the Hard Plastic. The Dye will penetrate the object like a dash board so it will not Scratch or chip. But on Hard plastic it doesn't work well and there is very little adhesion. Make sure the Primer (if any) is made for Palstics. Engine Paint will not work because it is designed to work on metal.
The Dye Can be used on Carpet, and Soft vinil, Fiberglass, and leather.
I recommend an enamel that doesn't require a Primer for the Hard Plastics like center console and stuff like that. Unless you are going to paint your car with all white interior or some other NON-OEM color I would recommend to replace whatever you can with OEM parts from the Junk Yard especially if they are touched alot like Door Handels and door Sills. If you work on the engine and make your car fast, then you wouldn't have to worry about looks cuz you'll be too fast to see.

I don't think focusing on looks is a problem, and although it's hard to imagine, not everyone wants a fast car.

The thing is that to most of the members here spray-on colors with a white vinyl dash insn't considered "good looks" and is more flame bait than a topic for discussion.

Clean all Hard plastic parts with rubbing alcohol to get all armor all and what have you off. And i recently saw a new paint which dupont makes, it is called "fusion" and actually bonds to plastic without using a primer first and will supposedly not chip. You could be a honda-tech hero and be the guinea pig for the stuff. And what are you doing in your car that you need paint resistant up to 800 deg.? Just curious. The road racing/auto-x forum specializes in this kind of thing actually. Doing their dashes for speed vision and what not. ASK THEM!!!

 

Don't spray your interior, it will look really tacking, and make your car look like crap

 

i tired that paint on my exterior moldings worked nicely. Fusion that is and its made by krylon. available at most local hardware stores.

but whatever you do, dont paint **** that you touch alot, hand oils are amazingly solvent like when it comes to paint.

 

multicolored interrior was the bomb in 1995! If you had that ****, and intake and exhaust, with cut springs, you were winning car shows.
