5th gen center console removal....I need to change a bulb
In my 97 lude, the light that illuminates the shifter positions on the center console went out last night. I am not sure about how to access this assembly, is it simple once you completely remove the center console? What type of bulb is down in there?
I know this might seem to be a simple question, but I really dont want to break anything down there.
Thanks in advance

the shift plate is a large plastic piece with the shifter attached to the top of it.
After removing the console, you should be able to access the bulb directly.
The bulb is located on the driver's side just below D3. It's a long heatwrapped wire that twists into the body of the shifter.
The bulb itself is a wedge type, but much smaller than your 168 wedges you use in the ceiling light or parking light. It is maybe... 3 or 4 mm wide and 1 cm long, including the wedge part.
