Toronto R owners - Tuning Options
Since it does not look like SGT will be making the trek to Toronto for a tune session... I was wondering what tuners in TO would your recommend to install and tune a Hondata s200 on my R.
So far my options are:
1. Gilman Auto
2. Neetronics - Paul
3. RT Motorsports.
4. NeoStyles
Which would you recommend and why?
Thanks.

Who told you that SGT was not going to make it? Did you talk to Edwin? I thought he was going to make it. Check out Paul @ Neetronics or Chris @ Tapp Auto (in Ottawa) who are licenced Hondata dealers and tuners.
Hrm... I've never dealt with Gilman before, although I've heard good things about them. I don't know about their tuning though. I think Rick from RT recommended them for alignments.
Paul is cool. He's definitely the guy to go to for tuning. He not only tunes for peak power, but he puts a lot of effort into tweaking partial throttle drivability maps too. He's done a great job on the cars that I've seen him work on.
RT is the shop I use for most of the stuff I'm not comfortable to do myself. I'm not sure what kind of tuning he does though. For installation and internal engine work they're awesome. They rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted my engine 65k ago and they did an awesome job on it. The best thing is they don't seem to mind when you watch them work on your car. I've learned so much from just hanging around.
I haven't been to Neostyle's new shop yet, so I don't know about how they tune. I've used them and my parentals do. They're getting deep into the WRX market, since they've always been a turbo-oriented shop. They've got very good attention to detail for sure.
Your other option of course is Yoshiro. I know someone who has dealt with him with his MR2, and says he's a bang on guy. Probably not the cheapest, but his reputation may be worth it.

great work, even greater prices</TD></TR></TABLE>
I heard, however, his dyno is not very accurate... is this the cases. Typically, how would Paul tune the car? Dyno ? Wideband o2?
Thanks,

I know CanuckMX-6 had great success with Tapp, and I've heard good things about Paul as well. I know Paul's dyno is new, so I dunno why there would be problems with it.
Regarding Yoshio, I'm an ex customer of his. I'll leave it at that.

Its not that his dyno is not accurate...its just not SAE corrected and it does not provide the graphing (yet). The dyno works just fine for tuning though.
I think SAE is the Society of Automotive Engineers. It just means that the equipment is set to the SAE standard so that the results can be compared from one place to another. E.g. Correcting for altitude, temperature etc....

Hey SW20 MR2, it's Project X here.
What was your experience with Yoshio? I was his customer before too, but he did an excellent job on my car.

I heard from a view sources, Yoshio is a motor blown gangsta! Is this true....

If it's just an SAE correction, it would have more to do with the software than the hardware. I'm sure it's easily rectified.
Regarding Yoshio, it's actually a few things. Some of which are high prices, lack of attention to detail (maybe it's his worker and not him, but nonetheless...), lack of customer service, etc. It's too long to type here. Yoshio is a really nice guy though. I have no problems with him as a person.
