actually it's not more than 700lbs including passenger weight (looked in my manual). I'm not going to be towing more than 200lbs. I'm just going to tow a very small trailer with an extra set of tires and some tools. I'm getting really sick of loading up the whole car with crap every time I go to the track, this would make my life 100 times EZer.

Ok, thanks for your insight...

I didn't even read what he's going to be using it for but I know its to tow tires/wheels/air tank/and other misc auto-x/road race stuff. I'm getting rather sick of putting the race wheels in the back and lugging all my crap around in the passanger seat, a trailer would be nice.

I haven't looked for frame locations for a hook though.

If you need to tow something buy a SUV. Forget using your Lude

I think it's funny how people don't even read what the question that is being asked. Hello...the guy is not wanting to tow a boat here, people. All he wants is a little single axle trailer (probabay not longer than 6 feet) to haul his tools and track wheels.

I've seen this on a few cars - M3, Miata, 300ZX, 350Z. You can do it (I'm sure you know)...just I don't know of where exactly to get the kit.

U-Haul? Sears?

exactly wut i was gonna say. obviously not all of you have experience in autox/track events but no need to jump on the poster when you dont even know why he needs/wants one.

i'd be interested too in this. as long as the hitch clears the oem rear valence and it's easy to remove.

ok, so if he sells his Lude to buy an SUV, then he has no ******* reason to tow spare tires etc for auto-x

there are a couple guys in my club that tow their stuff behind their car, a couple vettes, an S2K, and a stang.... i honestly would do the same, except the majority of the time, the place we use is literally less than a mile from my shop, anytime i go farther, i "borrow" my dad's truck and use one of his race trailers to tow the whole car

You could always get someone to custom fab a nice little hitch, and make it bolt on/off for the obvious weight reasons, not that it's going to weigh that much. A wiring harness is not that tough to tap into the existing brake and signal wires behind the tail lights. Just an idea.

The guy with the M3 (mentioned in my previous post) has a hitch that raises and lowers (kind like the spare tire on trucks). It's pretty cool...when he raises it up, you can't see it.

I'm still looking around on the net and stuff for one, they only seem to add about 15lbs of weight. I will let you know what I come up with. ...and lol at some of the posts about how this is a bad idea and how I need to buy an SUV.

Man I wish I could do that, but then I would need to buy a new truck (mine is an old POS 4 banger), and a full trailer. Maybe some day.

Go to Da'Lan Hitches for a Lude. 978-425-9585 or your local u-haul might also have something that fits. The Da'Lan is nearly invisable exact for the receiver hole.

when I bought my lude it had a hitch, if I can find it i will post a pick, It was for a bike rack that goes on the back of the car. I got a lot of questions, mostly where "what the hell to you tow with that" and "A trailer hitch on a prelude!!??!!" So i took it off

This might be a good choice for a trailer.
