Default Rattle and Check Engine Light

So, I've got a rattle/vibration from under the car at low rpms and when the car is cold. I climbed under there tonight thinking it might be a heatshield, but it wasn't. I'm thinking that maybe the carsound cat is rattling, but it sounds like a metal on metal vibration but I can't seem to find it. Could that be the cat?

Also, maybe this is related. When I start the car I have been getting the Check Engine light blinking at me 10 times and then it goes out. Car has 42,000 miles - is this just Honda's way of reminding me about the 45,000 mile service? How do I make it stop?

If the check engine is on then you have a problem. The reminder would be the maintenance required light.

short the blue connector on the passenger side and turn the key to ACC. Count the blinks.

yshi - who thinks it may be a "catalyst deteriation" code

When I said Check Engine light - I actually meant Maint Reqd light. That is simply a dummy reminder right? The Check Engine light is not on. I'll be using Yoshi's happy-fun graphic to clear the reminder...

Still think it is the cat?
