Default overheating problems! please help!

My setup: y8 IM with .040" milled z6 head and y8 head gasket.
problem: overheating and overflow of backup coolant reservoir.
I've changed water pump and thermostat and even drove w/o a thermostat but still overheats. Has anyone had problems with the same setup as mine or is the source of the problem somewhere else? could it be the head gasket?

It could be the headgasket. Are you burning any coolant at all, or leaking any?

Make sure thermostat is good, make sure the cooling fan turns on, and also make sure there is good flow through out the water system.

Do a complete flush, with the Heater Core Valve open, and flush the whole system making sure it flows fine.

If you turn the climate control to hot, it should open the heater core valve. It is located right under the intake manifold by the EVAP canister.

You either got a bum thermostat or didn't bleed the system correctly. Do what poison said and let us know what happens...

My car was overheating for awhile. I couldn't figure out what it was so i took it to a dealer. Apparently my car must have hit a bump or something a hose got crimped so not as much fluid was going through. Who would have ever thought. You might want to check the lines if your car is lowered

drain the system and flush it with clean water. also use coolant flush inside to get rid of any carbon build up.

You just simply put the hose into the thermostat housing with the thermostat out of the motor, and it will flow out the other end of the motor.

The coolant flush system will burn any carbon build up.
