Quote: Car also has an APEX'i turbo timer... it works for NON aspirated cars aswell... it helps the vtec cool down after the car has been shut off.

Many of the companys that sell turbo timers advertise that it's used for Naturally aspirated as well as turbo cars. He was probably just reading the box.

A TURBO TIMER IS NOT THE SAME AS A BOOST CONTROLLER

Probably an honest mistake. No need to get hostile.

While for the most part idling any Honda is simply a waste of gas, an idle "cool down" can mostly be beneficial for performance engines after a hot run. It eliminates hotspots in the cylinder sleeves and head. Of course, most of us never really run 10/10ths driving our vehicles, but for those of us who do (on the track I hope) forgoing the cool down lap and brief idling before shutdown can be quite bad for the motor.

Of course, this Ebay dude probably has no idea what he's talking about, but I thought the mention of idle cool down was worth making before anybody said that this was NEVER necessary on NA cars.

Im sure you guys are aware of this

How can vtec ever "cool down" when its an extra lobe on the cam that is designed to let more airflow in, like a race cam, and at the same time the cam as a smaller lobe for good idle?!? Doesnt make sense unless you had vtec killer cams and even then it doesnt make sense?

Its like just this last sat. when I went to HIN(ricer city...very lame show) and was checking out "For Hybrids" car. He had an ls/vtec with a B16 head. Well as i looked at the engine code and saw it was an ls/vtec i told my friend. This guy taking pics of it over heard me and said thats a b16 si motor. And then i was like yeah the head but the block is an ls. Its a frankenstein motor. He then looked at me as if i was a dumbass and repeated it is a b16 motor from an si, I guess he thought since it said DOHC VTEC, that it was a b16 or something. So i was like, "Ohh really damn i thought it was "just" and ls/vtec, damn b16's are hella better and have more torque to, my bad man" hehe...soem people

Erm, since this topic is talking about the auto timer/turbo timer, was wondering..does the timer do any gd for NA cars?? Im not talking about vtec cooling..ehehee...i mean does it really help cool down the engine?? And since NA cars does not have an intercooler, how does it help?? I think if it does help, it'll be very minimal right??
