Default Magnaflow

I just picked up a Magnaflow muffler on ebay for $40 and it says that it is aluminized as compared to the others that were stainless steel. Will this give any different sound, or any problems with rust at all? Does anyone have any experience with this type exhaust? Good? Bad? just need opinions.

Are you sure it didnt say "Magnaflow Knockoff"?

You are probably going to get sent a generic muffler...

I used to have a Magnaflow.

It's "alumnized steel." All it means is that it will not rust, like regular steel, and offer longer protection. Alumnized steel is no way is it equal to stainless steel in shine or rust-free performance. Don't worry, the muffler will last you long before you are tired of it.

As for performance, it makes no difference what material it is made out of. It's the design that counts. Magafow is made of the same straight through design as the big names like Greddy, etc. So performance should be similar.

I like it. It's got all the good stuff, without the flash. I would have still kept mine if I did not get a new stereo system. I paid $90 retail a few years ago, so you got a good deal.

Yeah it was on ebay, I can post the auction later, there are more still for sale. And the picture it had of the muffler had magnaflow engraved on the top of it. So heres to hoping, and thanks for your input.

I honestly wouldn't doubt its a real one, I've seen them at shops for as low as $60-$70 and he's talking Ebay.

I have an aluminized 2.5" oval on my car- sounds greats and performs well and no rust so far

One more question, do you recomend getting 2.25 or 2.5 inlet/outlet it is for a 98 civic with the stock motor.

Are you getting custom piping of any sort? For a stock motor I'd suggest the 2.25, down the line if you swap with something bigger I'd go with the 2.5". Custom exhaust isn't too expensive so I'd say go with the 2.25 for now.
