Default Spring isolator?

I'm thinking of making a rubber isolator to go between by spring and the lower spring perch to keep it from squeaking. I'm just thinking of getting some very thin rubber and using the perch as a template and cutting a donut that sits in the perch so there isn't any metal to metal contact. Can anyone think of why this would be a bad idea (assuming I use a rubber thin enough that there won't be any real compression in the rubber itself)? Has anyone already tried this? Thanks in advance.

I'll probably do it in a month or so (along with lubing my bushings/joints). I'll let you guys know how it goes.
