Sparco seat mounting solution
First off I unbolted some stock sliders of a seat. Then I had a shop cut all the rivets and welds until all had left were the bare sliders and floor tabs. Next I mounted the sparco side mounts to the Evo2 with the tall end in the front and the slider holes under the seat. With this setup it placed the bracket holes directly on the sliders. Measuring the distances on the seat mounts I then marked where on sliders to drill. Fortunately I was able to use one of the original holes in the slider as a starting point. After I drilled the holes I test fitted the seat and found one of the holes was off so I re-drilled it and it now fits. It's all together except for one bolt that his really hard to get to is still a little loose and another bolt has to be cut shorter to prevent it from scraping the sliders. The final result is a gain of about 1-1.5" of head room over the sparco junk.
The bottom line is that the stock rails are easier to install, sit lower, and I believe weigh less then the sparco mounting junk. The Evo2 seat is the perfect size for the stock rails but perhaps if you mounted a Evo you could just flip the side brackets to increase it's mounting width.

Glad to hear you finally found a solution to your problem (well one of them anyway)
