I just ordered my engine from hmotorsonline.
I just wanted to thank everybody who answered my post about hmotorsonline.com. Your advice was greatly appreciated. I just ordered the B18c and I can't wait for it to come in. Hopefully I'll be able to get some pics up soon. Steve said it would take about 2 weeks to get here, so hopefully I'll be able to post then. I'm a little nervous because this is the first time I have ever bought a engine. It's alot of money and I hope that everything runs smoothly.
Anyway, just wanted to show my appreciation to the forum and extend my thanks.

i hope you get a good engine. i bought my B18C about 4 months ago from HMO and after about a month of driving, it started to burn oil... like over a half a quart a week.
i'm curious... did steve tell you how many miles on the engine. he told me mine had "about" 34K. a 34K mile engine shouldn't be burning oil.
also... i've never gotten a recipt or anything from HMO showing that i purchased the engine.
it only took a little over a week to get it... so the shipping was pretty fast.
i don't want to worry you... i just want to give you a heads up.

I appreciate the heads up. He told me that I would get a receipt when I get the engine. I have heard that he doesn't give out receipts though. I'd like to think that if you call him and tell him that you would like a receipt he would send you one. I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you have had (now I'm worried). I hope that things work out well he said that the motor has about 38k on it. I don't know what to tell you man, except that you should probably talk to some people on here about what you should do. I've heard alot of stories about Steve righting the wrongs of individual engine problems.
Good luck man, and I appreciate the heads up!

i called last month and told them i didn't recieve a recipt. they said they were sorry and that they would send one out as soon as possible.
a month goes by, and still no recipt. i'm gonna give 'em a call today and maybe straighten things out.
oh btw... congradulations on the motor. i'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.

When I got my swap from Steve he sent me some type of invoice on top of the motor underneath the shrinkwrap. Im not sure if thats the type of reciept you guys were looking for. I think it said what type and year motor I got, no oil, and and few other things. Whatever that is, its close enough for a reciept for me.

if he got a type R b18c it comes with LSD stock.
and if he got a GSR, they dont accidentally send out LSD transmissions, you have to pay for it.
and steve kicks ***, ive gotten 3 motors through him. all run perfect with no problems. my b16 i had in my civic (now sold) has been going for over a year and a half without any problems.

there's a store in paterson NJ that you can see the motor before you buy and they ship within 50 miles
i rather do that than go to steve because whoever at the top, 1 month and burning oil, anytime you burn oil it is no good, especially a broken in b series

sounds like a reason to worry to me???? "a heads up" is a warning usually before action is taken. you don't accidentally throw a frisbee at someone and tell them to duck after it hits them?? I'm just messing around. but I have a question for you b/c soon I will be in the same boat. I'm looking to buy an engine either around Christmas or next summer. I've got it narrowed down to IAS and HMO. What do you "fix" when an engine burns oil like that?????

i apologize for using the wrong words.
there's a couple different things that could be causing my engine to burn oil...
1. the valve guide seals could have gone bad. they shouldn't be too hard to replace (and that's what i'm hoping it is).
2. bad ring. i need to get my compression tested out soon to find out if that's what it is (i pray that it's not).
3. if the spark plug seals under the valve cover get "pinched" that could let oil drain down into the plugs, which could cause it to burn oil. (i already checked this out and that's not it)
4. cam seal can go bad and cause oil to seep out by the pressure solenoid and run down over the front of the block. (this is pretty common, as i have seen several B series engine do this)
#4 doesn't really have anything to do with burning oil, but is something to look out for if you notice that the oil level dropped on the dip stick and there's no blue smoke from the exhaust.
