Default Beware who you lend your car to at a time trial...

You may just get beaten by your own car. This happened to me yesterday. It was my first event with my D16Z6 and I had trouble being smooth. I had to re-learn all the braking points on my home track and I was missing apexes by carrying in too much speed. My co-driver, who paid for the engine, was .2 seconds per lap and he'd barely ever driven the car before. This may be explained by the fact that he weighs 50 pounds less than me, but I've got to give him credit anyway. After a strange tire failure in the morning (bulge on the tread surface, steel wire coming out the sidewall???), I had my parents make me an emergency delivery of some old Hankooks (which I keep at their place) to put on the front. We ended up lapping our local track in 1:05.4, 3.5 seconds faster than with the old D15 despite the old mismatched tires. We were expecting 2-2.5 seconds. We were actually with the "fast guys". What a transformation for under 1000$CAD. The car is transformed and now hangs with S2000's and ITR's. I now have to focus on re-learning how to be smooth with my own car...

Glad to hear the new engine is working out. Those old Hondas are pretty darn fast for what they are.

The title was deliberately misleading. I actually drafted a contract with my friend in case the car does get totalled. We gave the car a value of 5000$. He can either repair any damage to my satisfaction or give me 5000$ if he wrecks.

Seems like people have faster times in borrowed vehicles...they dont overdrive them.
