is paint supposed to be like this?
almost exactly a year ago i had some exterior repairs done on my car.. basically just some paint work done @ a shop that will remain un-named.
i was about to get my car detailed today when my detailer discovered a couple things. first of all.. there was a hair line crack running about 3 inches on the passenger side of the rear bumper.. 2ndly.. i rubbed up against a metal thing a couple weeks back which scratched up the side of my bumper..and when i asked my detailer to try to undo my damages.. he noticed that the paint was chipping (exposing the original layer underneath) as well as another hair line crack..
he explained to me that paint.. (especially paint that is still fairly new) shouldnt chip like that nor should it crack.. he thinks that the shop who did the paint job did not prep the bumper properply before applying the new paint.. and inaddition.. they did not seem to have applied a solevent underneath which would allow flex of the paint..
now im not a paint expert nor an autobody expert.. but my detailer actually works at a differnt autobody shop and he feels i shoudl take it back to the place where i got it fixed in the first place..
does anyone have any input on my situation??
is everythign he sed accurate?? (its not that i dont trust him, i do 100%, its just that im thinking that all shops may have different process when doing their body work)
thanks!
