passed msf today
i finally took the MSF and pass the class. it was pretty fun. they were very helpful. Ive never rode a bike before . everyone in my class passed. the only part on the riding test that messed everyone up was the u- turns in the box. other then that its straight. now just cant wait to get my bike this weekend....hahh..lates
i've had my permit for month or so now and i've already put like 400 miles on the bike. i'm taking the msf course in july once i get back from europe. i'm thinking it'll help some but i should breeze through it if people pass that havent ever ridden before and i find riding around normally is pretty easy
I took the MSF course in Cali a few months ago. It was an awesome class, other than the 150cc Hondas that were probably made in the early 80s that we rode. No tach or anything, they were disgusting! Anyway, awesome course. I would recomend it to everyone. The instructor was a chick and she was strict as hell. I think 75% of the class failed, but for good reason. People were driving too slow and was scared to make turns. I wouldn't want to be riding next to or behind those people in a car OR on a bike.

Me and my girl both took the course and passed. She actually did the best in the class of 40 people. Neither of us had ridden before, it was fun. Strongly recommend it to everyone.
There was a guy who already bought a bike and failed the test, he was pissed. He felt really stupid to learn that we had never ridden before and had passed. There were alot of riders who have ridden before but never bothered w/getting the license. They figured that they do it now so they can get a discount on insurance.
A guy also had problems w/the figure 8, he stalled twice and almost fell off(this guy rides dirt bikes). Congrads and lets keep it safe out there!

I think the funniest thing I've seen was this woman who was in my class drop the bike she was on. The funny part was that she was just sitting on her bike, not moving. Then it just fell over, with her on it.
well... i plan on buying a 2003 r6 or gsx-r 600.. i know many of you are probably thinking im an idiot for buying a high end bike as a beginer...but my friends have done the same thing...i plan on just cruising till i get real familiar with the bike. besides i want a brand new bike..i dont like the idea of buying a used bike because you never know what could be wrong with the thing. im going to be buying my bike in va for 7500 out the door...lates
Here in Cali, the course cost $200 and they provide the bike. The good thing is that if you drop it, it's not your bike.

yea. but if you drop the bike hard enought they make you pay for the damages and if you drop it during the test you automatically fail. but its hard to drop it
Yes, if you drop the bike during the test, you fail. But the $200 was for the cost for the maintenance on the bikes. Including all the people who drop it. I saw a woman drop it while she was just sitting on it, not moving. They told me that no matter what, we dont pay for it if we drop it. That's why we pay so much.

Um, I don't know where you were monkee but the last time I took MSF in MD, they covered all damages and it was an even $100. Also, you do know that the 03 gsxr is unchanged fron prior years right? Why not buy a new 02. Or a new 02 600r or r6. I hope you're not going to be one of the guys hanging out in front of starbucks.
i took my MSF in gaithersburg. the class was 110. i bought the gixxer today...and no i dont hang around starbucks...ahhahaha...i rather buy a brand new bike over a used so that way i dont have to worry about anything being wrong with the bike...feel more confident that way.
i notice a lot of people here are from the metro area. i've been trying to look for an msf course for awhile now but they all seem to be full. how hard was it to get in the course for you guys, and where did you take it? thanks.
SO its pretty easy for someone who has never really riden a bike? Like ive ridden dirtbikes some but not for a couple years. Im scared to fail
ANy tips for the beginners takin the class? lol

well MSF is full for the restof the year. you gotta arive about 3 hours early to get a spot. i went about 2 hours early. the class is good especially if you never rode a bike before. they teach you everything you need to learn. its pretty fun
I may be cancelling my place in the MSF course for the first weekend in October since I am taking it in July now. It's at the NOVA Community College Loudon Campus if anyone is interested. I can post up when I cancel so someone can know when a spot becomes available.
