rubber plug for stripped oil plug
Im planning on buying a 90 civic si that has a rubber plug in place of the oil drain plug. The owner said a honda dealer had installed this and this was common.
Does anyone else have this and have they had any problems? It seems to me
that a new oil pan is the better solution??

i'd say get a new oil pan. that's the first time i've heard of a rubber plug being used for a stripped oil plug. i wouldn't count on it staying in there...
You can buy those plugs at most auto parts stores. I think they have a bolt though them and they expand when you tighten the bolt. I guess they work, but I'd get a new pan anyway.
i don't think i'd buy a car from a guy who said rubber oil plugs are common...
unless you're going hybrid you've got to wonder what other "repairs" were done.
