Actually, you don't mount your harness to that type of bar. Those are used a "guide bars" where the harness is mounted to something else. The only type of bar behind your seat that can have a harness mounted ON it is a rollbar.

Depends on how your harness is mounted. The guide bar is there to locate the harness behind your seat at a near horizontal level. So if you mount your harness to the floor, the guide bar keeps you from being pulled down from the extreme angle. It would make better sense if I could find a picture.

i use a skunk 2 strut bar, i have a crx, so its only about 2 feet away from my seat. so i really dont think its a bad idea. and its a pretty fat bar. i would say its safe, hey, i took out my stock seat belts today so i must trust it

I wouldn't use a safety restraint mounted to a strut bar...
those bolts would shear off in a moment.. ..
the bar is thick yes, but the mounting and adjusting bolts are not designed to take that kind of force...

dude i agree, your better off with no belt, than just on your strut bar, those will snap so fast, not to mention if u have another person in the car, look at your seat belt bolts, they are like 7/8" and strut bars are on like 3/8" at the most
Don't forget that having a harness mounted properly will help you avoid submarining and spine compression in an accident - which mounting the harness to a strut bar will not do.
Mount it to a proper rollbar/cage, or use normal belts - the normal belts would probably be safer for you than a MacGuyver-ized harness setup.

They make strong bars for cars, they don't have one for the crx but they can make you one. All you have to do is take your measurement from the inside of your rex from left to right and give it to them. The bars only cost like $100. Thats what i plan on doing for my ef.

I forget the site that my brother got his from (it was a shop up in Washington I think). . .but for his '00 Si he got what they called a "harness bar". Their site only had like BMW and Porsche applications, but they had just designed the one for the '00 Si, and they said if they had your car for a day or 2, they can make one for pretty much anything. But from the way they look, I doubt they can make them for those of us with the seat belts in the doors.
Here's a couple pics.

The stableenergies bars aren't strong enought to mount a harness to. Neither is a strut tower bar. The bar pictures above, IMHO, prob is strong enought to mount a harness, but it offers no rollover protection and strangely is more expensive than a roll bar.
