Default Can I disconnect a/c hose from compressor without losing freon?

I want to disconnect the hose from the A/C compressor. I think there is some kind of valve that holds the freon inside but just want to be sure.

No there isnt.

You have to get it professionaly vacuumed out so there isn't air in the line when you install the new compressor. Otherwise when you refill your freon, it'll seem like the A/C cuts on and off. b/c there is air in the system.
