Default Official HyTech Exhaust DYNO numbers!!!!

Well, it looks like the car is out of the bag, so I'll post the info here too. John just finished dynoing his header and full 2.5 exhaust, on a basically bone stock ITR (VAFC was the only other mod). Here's the email I received from him directly:

Hello Mike

Where's the graph? Until we see a graph we will skeptical to believe your results If they are true and I'm not doubtin, those are impressive gains.

169/117 on a stock R is already a strong motor ..... it took me intake, Comptech 4-2-1 and Comptech cat back to get 170/120 .......

Very nice!! One of "the two" is getting my business for the header for the B16 swap into the hatch, just not sure who yet .......

Wait a second..

What was actually done to the car?
- HyTech zero restriction 2-1/2" exhaust or the stock ultra restrictive system?
- Stock ultra restriction CAT or test pipe?
- Stock intake with stock filter or K&N filter?

My point is that these numbers are not necessarily coming from the header alone! I'm not knocking the headers effectiveness but lets not fool our selves into thinking that some guy who buys the header will simply bolt it on to a stock car and realize these gains. I would not be surprised if other JDM style headers given the same conditions come close to these results. Others have realized similar numbers with the stock cams and timing before with different headers.

All the facts please!

I will add that if the car is running with the stock exhaust and CAT then these numbers are very impressive!

Regards,

I was on the website for HyTech and I was wondering if this was the Honda Street or the Honda Drag Header?

My thoughts exactly, they probably spent a lot of time tuning to get these numbers..Don't be misled people.

It was definitely the full exhaust. It even says so in the first post. That also means it is probably either a test pipe or a high flow cat (I would guess test pipe). STill those numbers are pretty damn good.

Yes they are great numbers, and I hope my car will be there soon... But where are they coming from?

To be honest I would have hoped that HyTechs full exhaust with engine tuning would have put it in the 190s. Lets not forget all the incredible claims that have been made about this header and that for me up in Canada the header alone would cost over $2300!

It would put it in the 190's with an intake.Pretty much all of us have one.My car made 175.9 with an intake I made.I wonder what this exhaust would do for a car with an intake also?I also wonder what the price will be.I talked to John a while back about his exhaust system header combo. He left me with impression that he was going to be using a cat and the full kit header back was going to be nearly $2k.

I wonder if they used the twin loop design muffler? and is that better then the indy lite muffler that someone on HT had?

Well, we aren't sure, it'd be nice if Hytech actually posted what was done to the car. The fact that he didn't say what tuning and other add-ons have been done makes me skeptical.

Default ...is my understanding...

...that this run was with John's header/HF cat/exhaust on a bone stock R, and tuned on a dyno with a V-AFC... and not one damn mod more... If what I've been told is true(and a believe it may be), very damn impressive...

I just called John at Hitech and he said the car is a stock 2000 ITR. The only things that were added are the header, HF cat, and the twin loop muffler. It was tuned on a 'Clayton' dyno. (Does anyone know what the difference is?)

I say congratulations to them for a good product, but with a word of warning to all...

Let's all look back and the other various "amazing" things that have happened in the last year. First we had the whole Jackson Racing kit which many reputable people said was amazing, and now most will tell you the JRSC is crap. Next would be the whole Endyn fiasco; regardless of what is true and what isn't I think most will admit that there was a lot of hype and the actual facts were few and far between in terms of performance numbers.

I think it will be at least a month or more until we can actually say that with these mods using Hytech products that other stock R's with "tuning" will see these numbers as well.

My two cents
