Default ECU codes....not sure

I did a search but I could not find a specific answer on this. I have a 91 hatch STD.

When I turn the key, the ECU of course flashes once. Then it flashes quick 10 times, pauses and then flashes quick 13 times. It repeats this over and over.

I thought the code for 13 was 1 long flash and 3 short and 10 would be 1 long flash. ??

10 is for the intake air temp sensor
13 is for the atmospheric pressure sensor

Has anyone else had these codes come up? And my final question... What could be the problem to cause these codes to be thrown? Thanks!

I think that on OBD1 there is a long flash for ten and shorts for 1. On OBDO there is no long flash, just a bunch of short ones.

For the code 10: "with the engine cold, disconnect the electrical connector from the IAT sensor, which is located on the intake manifold. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the two terminals on the sensor and compare your readings with the spec's (8-15 ohms). If the test results are incorrect, replace the IAT sensor. If the sendor check out okay have the vehicle checked at the dealer service depart. or other qualified repair shop, as the ECU may be malfuntioning." As for the code 13 "have checked at dealer service department." Both quoted form the Haynes manual. Hope this helps.

Excellent, thanks alot for the reply!! I will have it looked at.

Anything in the Haynes manual about what problems can be caused by these codes? The car runs great otherwise. ??

So what does that mean for me? Why am I getting all short flashes? Possible ECU malfunction?

mine gets all short flashes too, and I've got 16 short flashes before, which is fuel injectors, i just jiggled the plug on a little tighter, and the code went away.
so 16 short flashes for me was a code 16

I'll have to check the connection. The car seems to be running fine and the gauges are all ok... hopefully just a glitch!

Now my leaking brake line is another story.... I have to get this fixed soon....it's scary driving to work and ebraking at the red lights to make sure it stays still....

Only gave the obdO info because that is what my obdO set up does and everyone has always told me that. I looked in the Haynes and that was all the info I could find. Good Luck!!
