Need help analyzing dyno results
Dynoed my car today. It's bone stock with 50000km on it.
My results vere:
Engine output: 135,5kw = 184,35 hp
Wheel output: 104,5kw = 142,18 whp
Now... A stock Euro ITR should have 190hp at 8000rpm according to Honda. I was told it was a very "strict" dyno, so i'm quite ok with the car having 184hp after 50000km. But I find it strange that the car had only 142 whp. Thats a whopping 42hp in transmission loss. When I read dynos from you guys, it's normal with about 195hp and 160whp stock on the US ITR. It's the same transmission on US and Euro ITR right? So the whp should be about the same.... Do you use different dynos over there or what?
And another thing I find strange. On the first run we reved it to 8400rpm and the car made 180hp. The second time we took it up to 8650 rpm, and the car made 184hp from 8460rpm-8650rpm. I thougt the stock cams on B18C6 should stop making power after 8000rpm? Either i've been misinformed, or something is very strange here.....
Anyway... The car runs great and feels very strong, but I find it strange with the low whp... Any coments?

Did you take a long break before making this run? If you hadn't been taking as long of a break between previous runs, this increase could be explained by the fact that the motor had cooled down.

No. There was just a couple of minutes between the runs.

Yes we use different dynos over here in the US. I think it's just mostly the difference in what type of dyno you are using. I wouldn't try to compare your numbers to our Dynojet numbers rather compare numbers to those who dynoed at your local place before.
Also do you have SAE corrections in your country? Our dyno numbers are "corrected" to a certain standard so that someone dynoing under certain conditions will get the same numbers as the same car dynoing under different conditions.

Hahaha...
that`s normal.. US-dynos are a mystery... The US guys always dyno very high numbers..175hp in Europe is 190hp in US...
Anyway, 142 at the wheels is weak. I dynoed almost 160whp (116kw) when I bought my first ITR..
Here is my dyno.. (204hp engine output, stock b18c6)

You should check your engine setup... 142 Euro-whp is weak

So you say that a stock B18C6 with 50000km on it should dyno about 200hp, even though it should have 190hp new? Sounds kind of high? A friend of mine with a spoon sports cat-back and test pipe dynoed 200hp last year on the same dyno. Should be in the low 190's stock then.
I actually think you know my car. The previous owner here in Norway, Rune Brath (don't you know him?), ran consistent 14,7 on 402m with little drag experience with the car last year with heavy 16" wheels. Sounds ok with me.....
Anyway... What should I check in my engine to make sure it's not weak? Compression?

A strong b18c6 gets it`s max power around 50k km...
You power curve between 6000 and 8400 is a little low.. I think there is some good power hidden.. Try a better header/cat/exhaust... The problem is not the engine power imho.... It`s the typical backpressure problem of the Euro exhaust system.
Rune is a friend of mine but I don`t know his former car....

Did you dyno 204hp with stock header/cat/exhaust? If not what gain did you have putting on aftermarket parts?

Wow... 229hp with nothing more than exhaust/intake! That's the higest I've ever seen on a ITR. Well, next mod for me is full exhaust. My vafc is already on it's way. Should see some nice gains when tuned

Bolt ons and upgraded software....
204 hp stock is a good base but 25 engine hp by bolt ons is pretty normal.. nothing special.... You can gain 20hp at crank just by JDM header, 100cell cat and 60mm exhaust. That`s why the JDM ITR`s make 210 hp and the b18c6 only 190.
You don`t need to mod your engine to bulid a fast car... Just bolt ons, software, stiffness, wheels, tires, suspension, maybe brakes, safety

Yeah but the JDM ITR runs higher CR due to better pump fuel.
JDM get 105 RON fuel at the pumps....WOW.
Best we get here in OZ is 98RON Octane.
All we all know about the JDM's free flowing exhaust systems.

So the Euro ITR does...

So the Euro ITR does...
AUS/Euro and JDM ITR engines all have 11.1 compression. The only significant difference is the header. JDM engines have 200 PS JIS, not 210. Euro ITR engines have 190 HP ECE, this is due to the header and cat.
There are few other differences from JDM to Euro....
After owning and comparing both and some research I know there are differences worse waste numbers but better power.
