Default LS engine in DB8 4 dr GSR... suggestions please.

I recently purchased a theft recovery 4 door 98 GSR. The car came with the stock cat and piping and was just missing engine. Due to limited funds, I am currently installing a 1.8 LS but it seems that the LS downpipe (A-pipe) is about 2" too long.

I have seen the comparisons of GSR vs. LS A-pipes for the 94-99 years and it looks as if I need a GSR one in order to fit the stock piping.

Which is the best route to take?

1. Try to get a 94-99 GSR exhaust manifold & downpipe. Will it clear the LS oilpan and bolt directly to my stock GSR cat? Any diff. between OBD1 and 2?

2. Have exhaust piping modified to fit my LS downpipe?

or

3. Since the exhaust is already off, should I use a 4 dr LS exhaust piping? ( That way I get to keep DB8 piping for future use when I get a b18c1).

I tried searching but did not find any results.

PS.
I do plan on getting a b18c1 later down the road. I just want to get my car running for now.

Thx for your help.

ask board member Loveless about this, I think he's running the same setup as you
