Default Red Valve Cover or Blue?

Which JDM Preludes came with red valve covers and which came with blue ones? I know that both of them are Original Equipment Honda part. Anyone got a history lesson for me?

If you talking 5th gen which I think you are. The Type S Prelude comes with the Red Valve Cover and the SIR S-SPEC comes with the blue. Both have the 220ps engine but the Type S uses the ATTS System and te SIR S-SPEC uses LSD. There's also other differences but that should help you decide what you want. Hope it helps.

Hmmm... never heard of the SIR S-SPEC. Thanx.

Anyways... just finished installing the Blue valve cover. There's a protrusion (like a thread hole) that sticks out in front of the alternator harness (which goes over the driver's side of the valve cover). The stock valve cover doesn't have that.

The problem is, the alternator harness is secured (with a 10mm bolt) onto the alternator mount, but the protrusion on the Blue valve cover gets in the way. The holes don't line up and its just like.... in the way, about 1/2 a centimeter. Kinda sucks cuz u can't bolt the harness down.

I think I can trim the plastic mounting shroud of the harness so the hole rests right next to the protrusion.

Looks cool though. Seems like everyone and their mom's got a Red valve cover. Just hope people aren't like, "Where'd you get that painted?"

First, since you're kinda new, a word of advice (if no one has told you this yet): Posts of this nature are almost 99% guaranteed to be locked by a mod when they get a look at it. Why? Because if you needed help installing the valve cover, it would be considered tech-related, but I'm pretty sure color choices would be considered a no-no, especially if it's Sam who sees it 1st. Just a word to the wise dude.

Now, the blue valve cover isn't as rare as you think, I tend to see them more than the red, which to me is kinda garish and tacky. The blue cover was also used on the Euro and JDM Accord Type-R's. If I had to get one, which I don't know if I ever will, it would be the blue one, especially since my car is silver...

Final Flash is right, this one will prolly get locked b/c you are simply asking which is better.

actually to me it doesn't seem he asked which is better. He was looking for which had which, and giving a heads up that the alternator harness doesn't fit right for anyone else looking to do it....
