Default how much should i sell my car for?

wellll..I have a lonnnnng story about bad luck things that have been happening with my 94 accord DX, but i wont bore everyone..basically..a while back i had big hopes for my car, and i'm just tired of stuff happening to it..(getting stolen and stripped, ripped off my several people on parts, people doing hit and runs on me etc..) I have my car sanded down and primered because someone said they could hook me up with a paint job, but that didn't go through..so I had planned on getting it painted and maybe selling it for around 5,000. But too many things have been happening so i'm not gonna put anymore money into it and i'm gonna sell it as is. My car has no bumpers on it..because of being stolen, its sanded and primered and has 170,000 miles on it. Just the other day someone hit me in the parking lot right near the taillight..so there's a dent there too. How much does everyone think I should ask for it? I have a black widow body kit in the garage thats not on it..but i'm not gonna pay to have it put on...i'll offer it with the car..just curious what everyone on here thinks i should ask. thanks for the advice.

You'd probably get no more than $1500 in the sorry state its in (primered, no bumpers, damage, DX-ness, miles, basic-uglyness. That $1500 would be very-very difficult though b/k your only buyers would be KID car-dudes...(who are notoriously cheap). Try an put the body-kit on yourself w/o painting would be the best thing...and would make it sell a bit faster (though no real jump in price - maybe to about $1850-2200). Personally, older guys would NEVER touch a car like that. You best bet is some HS kid who thinks he knows what he's doing (and has about 2k saved from working PT - just enough for your car). Most HS kids have about that max hanging around...(saved, borrowed and begged)

Sorry about your bad luck...

Edit: 4k is too much. I could get a high-mile 94+ car w/ at least decent shape paint/body for that...or a perfect 90-93 EX for less than that.

uhm, well the lack of paint, and certain body parts lowers the appeal of the car, then add the 170k on the odometer, i would honestly say 3000 bucks, and that is only if the car runs well, if there are any other problems with the drivetrain etc then i think sell for less, and worst comes to worst, you dont get the amount you want, donate the car to the government and write it off on your taxes, my family did that with an old camry we had that (91), and got like a 2550 break on taxes or some ****, so think about that 2...!!

bro, usually the 3 bill maaco paint job sucks cause they usually paint right over the old ****, but hey, if its primered and ready for paint, then itll actually look decent, that is a good idea....

I don't know if cars are alot more expensive where you guys live, but he would be lucky to get 1500 for that car I would think.

thanks for all the replies and advice..so, do you really think It would significantly increase the amount i could get for it if i get one of those Maaco paint jobs? I really dont wanna put anymore money into it...but depending on how much you think i could get for it. I'll have to check into that tax-writeoff idea too, and see about how much i'd be able to get back. thanks again!

well, try to sell it as it, if the price aint what you want or the buyer lowball you because of the primered sh-t, what i would do is to make a deal with them..you go ahead and paint the car with the color they want with a deposit saying that they will buy the accord when the paintjob is done..or something like that.

I think the trick with cheap paint-jobs is choosing the right color. I remember a friend's Maaco job looked pretty decent with a dark rich blue. We were actually pretty impressed; choose carefully and it should look okay (and will probably boost the price$$ up quite a bit).
