Default 94 accord ex

I just recently bought a 94 accord ex , because someone stole my 95 accord ex, and i have a question and it might be a dumb one too, sorry. The engine on the 95 ex said vtec (silver engine) on it, and the engine on the 94 Ex says vtec but the engine is black. Is it suppose to be like that for the 94 Ex or it suppose to be like the 95? How do i know if the engine is an f22, becuase near the headers it said HA and the cover for the cam gear said f22 so i dont know? thanks

YOu can look at the block stamp to the left of the header, this should say F22b1. Your question about black or silver is probably about the color of the valve cover. Some engines had silver ones others had black. I had F22b1 in my '94 Accord EX (pre swap) and it had a black valve cover.

That's right...the 94 valve-cover is suppose to be black. It was actually more expensive to coat the covers like we have in our 94's. In a cost-cutting measure, later cars have the smooth silver (exposed metal - less finished) covers. Cost cutting is also why the 96-97's accords have "hinged" trunk mechanisms as opposed to our 94 non-protruding self-contained "shock-absorber" type trunk mechanisms. (unsure of 95)

Those contained "shock absorber" trunk mechanisms might be a neat swap for 96-97 if someone got them for free. You don't have to worry about damaging things when you close the trunk....

Yup, '95 has the same "shock-absorber type trunk mechanisms".

Another difference between the 94 and later models is, the 94 EX has the build-in pop-up moonroof wind deflector and the 95 and after doesn't have it.

However, 95 and up does have a driver side lighted vanity mirror on the sunvisor! LoL!
