Default Type S intake what kind of power gains and what range of RPM?

Just like the topic says, what gains can I expect from a Type s intake, and in what RPM range?

Also, should that intake be run with or without the resonator?

Thanks

The air intake tube and box. I haven't decided to get it yet. I have a cai that is brand new.

What concerns me is that I see cops all the time, and they always follow me for a little bit. So I am thinking, I should get soemthing that's good, but looks totally stock.

So for that reason, I'd like to see how much improvement the Type S intake has over the stock intake airbox/tube.

Good question. I didn't even know the intakes were different. I would like to know too.

you get good low end and mid range with the TypeS intake where as with an aem CAI you get a little mid range and good top end

MugenPow..

Any numbers on the Type S intake? I'm curious how much it helps. Did you install it? if so, are you running with or without the resonator?

nope dont run it, but i havent seen dyno plots of it either since most of them also have other mods added on at the same time so its hard to tell how much hp gains it gives...

you dont need the resonator, it just quiets the intake noise down

From what I have read, the resonator has 2 separate chambers, and the second one opens when VTEC kicks in (or at some point when more flow is needed.) Maybe I read too much into it?

It was in the article on how to remove it on http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fift...shtml

if you have an aftermarket intake, you dont need the resonator, im not sure if owners with the typeS intake still use the resonator tho, its a good idea to keep it in case you sell the lude and go back to stock

Everything I have read has pointed to the resonator being an important functional piece for low end performance, helping keep air velocity up at low RPMs. Removing it will cause one to lose low end performance. If my lude was NA with basic boltons, I would use a Type S intake with the stock resonator assembly over an AEM style CAI.

Sorry, but I don't have any numbers!

However, I can tell you that my car has a little more grunt down low and that the VTEC crossover point is smoother.

I still have the resonator and I recommend you keep it for the reasons stated in the above posts.

Easy install! You unclamp the box and tube to the throttle body and clamp down the new box and tube to the throttle body!

I wouldn't really consider it an aftermarket part because it's made by Honda and it's made for the 5th Gen Prelude (Type S, of course!).

I really like it for my application... basic bolt-ons, NA, etc!

I may end up getting this and selling the CAI I just bought.

I forgot one very important thing when I bought the CAI: I'm lazy.

The other thing is I've gotten a couple of bogus tickets from cops around here and don't want them to have anything extra to say about my car.

Do be aware that the Type S air intake will not properly fit if you have a Neuspeed STB. That bar the Neuspeed has coming out the front blocks part of the space where the Type S air intake wants to stick up more than the stock one.

What bars fit? other than an overpriced JDM type s strut bar??

spoon should work. The neuspeed front upper strut bar has a 'leg' that sticks out over the fuse box connection area, I am sure this is what he's talking about.

BTW. I am 1 away from 1000 posts! w00h00.
