Default gear ratios/mph issues...

you guys are best to ask since its about my b16a2 motor not the ef civic its gone into. since doing the swap the original(mechanical) speedo was useless. so i purchased a kit to make a digital rev-counter and altered the rate to use it as a speedo(it looks really cool). the only problem is how to calibrate it. i think i've got it somewhere near(and following someone on the other end of a mobile would be just a bit difficult), so my question is this, any idea what speed equates to what rpm in whatever gear? at the moment it reads 99 on the revlimiter in third but i can work with any gear at any speed(the higher the better tho). also, on my old 1400cc engine every 500rpm in fifth gear equated to an extra 10 mph (eg: 4000rpm = 80mph). it feels the same with this engine, and it couldnt be shorter geared could it? if so it will do 145 on the flat and i want to back this up. any help will be much appreiciated as the police are well keen to take your licence off u for doin 31mph
